Statistics on truck accident injuries and deaths in the U.S.

How many people die in truck accidents?

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration reports that in 2018, over 5,000 fatal accidents involved large trucks and buses. This represents a 1% increase in comparison to 2017 and a 48% increase when compared to 2009. From fatigue to the use of alcohol and speeding, large truck drivers cause these accidents for a host of reasons. Sadly, more people will lose their lives in the future because of carelessness, and the families of those who die often face significant hardships (lasting emotional pain, financial problems, etc.). 

How many people suffer injuries in truck crashes?

Between 2016 and 2018, the number of large truck and bus accidents that resulted in an injury increased by 8%. During 2018, 121,000 injury accidents took place, while there were 112,000 in 2016. These statistics show that more people sustained injuries and lost their lives in large truck collisions during 2018 when compared to 2016 and 2017 and it is vital for you to understand your options during the recovery process.
