Truck accidents are some of the most devastating crashes on roadways in Texas. As Forward Thinking Systems, LLC, reports, Texas had the most trucking accidents of any state in 2019.
The figures in all the statistics here include buses, which are similar in size and just as damaging as large trucks.
In the state, there were 12,523 accidents in 2019 involving buses and trucks. In those accidents, 462 people died, making Texas the deadly state for such incidents.
Numbers alone may not tell the best story, though, since Texas is one of the largest states in the country, behind only Alaska in landmass and California in population. So, the more roadways and the more drivers on those roads, the higher likelihood of accidents.
Despite this, the numbers are still horrifying, and someone needs to address the situation.
Looking at Texas vs. California, you will see that in the same year, California had a total number of 8,696 crashes with 277 deaths. This is quite the difference considering California is notorious for its bad roadways.
In the U.S. total, 2019 had 122,331 accidents that involved trucks and buses. The total number of fatalities from those crashes was 3,087.
One thing to note about deaths in accidents and the numbers is that it is not uncommon for more than one person to dies in a single accident. For example, the 462 deaths in Texas were in only 408 of the 12,523 accidents. It is also worth noting that the majority of accidents are injury or property damage only without a fatality.
